Finding the perfect Radwood car on Craigslist
I browsed Craigslist for Radwood-worthy cars from the 80s and 90s era, looking for something under $1000 that could celebrate that period’s automotive awesomeness. Most listings were disasters: a Toyota Previa with a slipping transmission, a Land Rover Discovery on a tow truck, and various mechanic specials. But then I found the winner: a 1995 Honda Del Sol for $1200 with 370,000 miles. It’s automatic and needs a new battery plus towing, but the body is relatively clean and those small bodies are cheap to repaint. My vision: negotiate down to $800, add a white Japanese body kit for $600, get a quality paint job for $2000, throw on some period-correct white rims, and you’ve got a clean 90s icon for about $3500 total. Maybe even swap in a fresh engine or rebuild the existing one with a turbo for some Honda magic. It’s the perfect canvas for a Radwood build.
