Hunting for sports cars under $5000 on Craigslist

I scoured Craigslist looking for sports cars under $5000 and found a mixed bag. There was a salvaged 1991 Acura Integra with a 90s body kit and a leaking valve cover, a 1987 Porsche 944 five-speed that runs well but I’m not a Porsche fan, and several Mustang GTs with 200,000 miles on those reliable 4.6L V8s. A Z4 with 170,000 miles and various Camaros caught my eye, but the real winner was a 1977 Fiat 124 Spider five-speed with 38,000 miles (probably rolled over). It’s not currently running because the carburetor float stuck and leaked fuel back in 2017, but the seller has a rebuild kit ready. The seats are reupholstered, the soft top is almost new, and it has custom rear bumper and new tires. For a beach town cruiser where you’re driving 15-20 mph with the wind in your hair, this cute little red Italian death trap would be perfect.
