Virtual shopping for the coolest red car on Craigslist
I decided to search Craigslist exclusively for red cars to see what interesting finds would show up. The Bay Area had 494 red cars for sale, ranging from a pristine 1967 Camaro RS (trade only) to an $11,000 Fiat 124 Spider that was cute but overpriced. I saw a clean Chevy Camaro for $28k, a 2019 Challenger Hellcat for $60k, and an Aston Martin for $42k (same price as a mint VW Beetle convertible, which seems insane). There were multiple Camaros and Corvettes, a nice 1958 Bel Air with whitewall tires, and several Italian cars including an Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce with a beautiful four-cylinder engine but an ugly extended trunk. The winner for weirdest red car? A 1937 Ford-styled T race car that appeared in magazines. It’s bizarre, totally custom, lightweight, and absolutely not something you want to be seen driving in public, but it definitely wins for pure uniqueness at $29k.
